The combination of a U-Lock and Cable offer the ultimate security against bicycle theft. By combining the two into a single lock package, OnGuard provides over twice the protection of using either by themselves. In fact, they will offer you up to $2,251 if a thief defeats this system while stealing your bike (registration at onguardlock.com required.)
U-Locks are commonly broken by placing a jack inside the “U” and pushing the crossbar off of the end of the shackle. The Quattro bolt locking mechanism provides unequaled strength and maximum pull resistance by locking the crossbar to the shackle on 4 sides. We recommend this mini version over the full-size, because it is harder for a thief to get a tool in the smaller space.
Another, less likely option for the would-be thief, is to pick the lock. Lock “bumping” is the technique used in every crime drama made, that allows someone with the readily available locksmith key to “bump” the pins out of the key hole in the cylinder. OnGuard’s cylinders use what they call BumpBlok, which is a spring-loaded pin system. This system is much more secure, but more expensive, due to the laser cut keys that are required.
· Super thick, 14mm ultra-hard steel shackle provides maximum cut resistance

· Ultra-hard reinforced crossbar, with double rubber coating and rotating dust cover
